Our Clinical Studies
We offer the following (at no cost to you)... The UCI Heart Disease Prevention Program seeks interested participants for the following programs:
- Herbal Cholesterol-Lowering Study - The UCI Heart Disease Prevention Program is conducting a study to investigate the effects of a traditional herbal-based (Ayur-Vedic) therapy to lower cholesterol levels and other risk factors for heart disease. Qualifying participants should have moderately elevated cholesterol levels but not be on current cholesterol-lowering drug therapy. All herbal products, cholesterol and other blood tests, and other procedures are provided at NO COST to eligible participants. Approximately five clinic visits are required to UCI Medical Center in Orange; other programs are available at our Irvine facility. Closed for Enrollment.
- C-Reactive Protein and Heart Disease Prevention Study - Recent research suggests that a simple blood test may show inflammation of the arteries, which may be an early indicator of cardiovascular disease--even in people with normal or lower cholesterol. We are conducting a research trial to evaluate if an investigational drug will lower the risk of heart attack or stroke. Qualifications of the study include: 1)Men must be 55 years old or older, 2)Women must be 65 years old or older, and 3)No previous history of heart attack or stroke. Qualifying participants will receive study-relatd medical evaluations and may receive study medicine.
